Imani Soares-Benford(she/her)

(MA, AMFT)

I believe therapy offers an opportunity to slow down, make sense of the experiences, relationships, and expectations that have shaped us, and reconnect with ourselves along the way. If you've been carrying life's challenges on your own, therapy can become a space where you feel supported, understood, and a little less alone. My hope is to create a warm, collaborative relationship where you feel safe enough to explore your inner world, deepen your self-understanding, and build a life that feels more aligned with who you are.

I enjoy working with adults who are navigating anxiety, identity development, relationship challenges, life transitions, burnout, and the complexities of family dynamics. My approach is rooted in understanding how our relationships, past experiences, and learned patterns shape the way we see ourselves and connect with others. I believe our past experiences can influence how we navigate the world, and therapy can be a space to explore these patterns with curiosity and compassion. I also pay attention to the ways stress and emotions show up in the body, incorporating mindfulness, breathwork, and grounding practices when helpful.

As a multicultural therapist with Cape Verdean, Brazilian, and American roots, I understand that identity is rarely simple. My own experience navigating multiple cultural backgrounds has deepened my appreciation for the many ways culture, family, and lived experiences shape how we understand ourselves and connect with others.

I earned my M.A in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pacific Oaks College and my B.A in Psychology from the University of Oregon. Outside of the therapy room, you'll usually find me practicing yoga, spending time near the ocean, or soaking up time in nature. I believe healing doesn't happen only in therapy; it also happens through the small moments of connection, rest, and presence that help us reconnect with ourselves.

If our paths align, I’d be honored to walk alongside you as you explore what brought you here. I welcome the opportunity to connect and see if we might be a good fit.
