Grace Schumaker (MSW, ASW)
My work as a therapist is grounded in a liberatory, trauma-responsive, and relational approach that centers safety, collaboration, and respect for each client’s unique pace and lived experience. I believe healing happens in spaces where people feel genuinely seen, heard, and honored, and where the therapeutic relationship becomes a foundation for rebuilding trust, both in others and within oneself. I work with adults, couples, teens, and families navigating the impacts of trauma, anxiety, depression, systemic and cultural stress, life transitions, and relational wounds. Together, we explore how past experiences shape the present while creating new pathways toward agency, connection, and self-understanding.
My background in family reunification and reentry work informs how I understand resilience, attachment, and the challenges of navigating complex systems. I have experience supporting parents, caregivers, and children whose lived experiences may not fit neatly within traditional frameworks. My practice is shaped by feminist and anti-oppressive perspectives that honor culture, power, and context, while remaining grounded in curiosity and warmth.
Safety and rapport are central to my work. I move at a pace that honors your nervous system and readiness, integrating relational therapy with somatic awareness and reflective exploration. Some days our work may look like noticing what is happening in your body; other days it may involve making meaning of relational patterns or practicing new ways of communicating and caring for yourself. Therapy with me is a collaborative place where your experiences are honored, your strengths are recognized, and your path toward healing unfolds in a way that feels authentic to you.
